Time Waits for No One

Why is time flying by so quickly? I am still waiting for time to watch Christmas movies and it is mid-January.
I thought that things would slow down once we took a break from traveling, but this hasn't been the case. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas was a flurry of activity. Getting ready for the holiday is always a busy time. Preparing for the annual Christmas Party, wrapping gifts, decorating and baking prior to Christmas. After Christmas, we traveled to Erie, Pa to see my mom and sister. We visited with friends for a 3 hour lunch. We celebrated Christmas with Bruce's side of the family. This all seems like a standard for the holidays, but I felt I rarely had time to catch my breath and that I was always on the go. Things settled down after the new year, but I still feel as if my days are full. I guess that is good. I did revel in a good old fashioned snow day this week and I loved every minute of it. I wore my pajamas for the majority of the day. I did eventually have to put a sweater on, but my softie pants stayed on all day. I was able to work on a puzzle I received for Christmas and added color to a painting I was working on. Plus I was able to watch two biographies in the same day. It was a good day.
Honestly, it is good to be busy instead of just sitting in a chair all day. I have begun this year by cleaning all the closets. I have made 2 large donations to Goodwill and donated several bags of clothing. While cleaning out under the stairs, we located more items of Bruce's parents that we gained after their passing including 2 bins of photo albums. My current project is digitizing the photos and separating them for Bruce's family, if they wish to have hard copies. That has taken several hours of everyday this week. I should be done by the weekend with this portion of the project. The other thing that I need to do is sell or donate the family's china and crystal sets. We have not used it and won't. We actually have our china, my grandmother's china, his grandparents china and his great grandparent's china. We don't have space enough for all of them. I love looking at the photos and heirlooms, but just don't have the space to keep them all.
Then there is the day to day activities of helping to organize and advertise my husband's business, staying committed to my yoga and strength training classes twice a week and helping care for my daughter's horse every other day which I love, except for those cold days. I am going to miss him when she graduates and takes over, but I will get over it. Then there are the typical household tasks of shopping, laundry and cooking. I hate shopping and I stretch it out as far as I can between trips. Two weeks seems to be my limit.
I have 4 restoration projects I would like to work on, but I haven't had extra hours in a day and the weather has been too cold to work on them even in the garage and they are not a a place in the process that I can bring them in the house as the majority of them need a major sanding. I have two oversized mirrors to work on that are propped against the wall of my sewing room, but still haven't decided what to do with them. In the least, I need to build a new backing frame for each. But before I do that I want to know what they will be used for and where they will be placed. I am open to ideas! I also made a purchase to help me repurpose wine bottles into gifts, but I ran out of time to create them for my Christmas party gifts. Now the tool sits on my dresser and taunts me to use it. I would return it, but it has passed it's return date. That project is now added to my projects list too.
Reflection: It is good to have purpose and to stay active. It helps my body, mind and soul. My full days don't look like they used to with a career and keeping up with children's schedules, but my days are the perfect amount of busy for me.
