Cooling Off in a Float Pool for under $500

Image
I wanted to post about this last year, but I wanted to wait to see if it really worked and how it held up.  It did, so I am. I wanted to share a good photo of the pool, but I am always in it so it is hard to remember to take photos.  Above is a perfect example of how clean and clear the water can be in a float pool. I have always loved the water, well not splashing and not necessarily swimming.  I like to float and relax.  For many years, we had a pool for the kids.  We had a big one someone gave to us.  It was nice, but really deep for our kids ages at the time.  It was a lot of work and stress for the 2 months out of the year we could use it.  Then we moved and it stayed with the house.  A couple years later, we convince my husband to get an Intex 4ft deep pool.  We have had two different styles, the floating ring and the metal posts.  Both worked well for a 2 seasons, but at the time the cost was high for our funds availab...

5 Countries in 7 Days Wrap Up

The trip that started off with "Lets go to Greece" turned into so much more.  I often get asked "What was your favorite?" that is hard to answer.  It was great getting a sampling of so many countries.  Now I know wear I would like to return and where I would avoid.  I loved the tasting of authentic home land foods and being immersed in different cultures.  I loved the adventure of riding the paratrike over the island of Corfu, Greece.  I was also overcome by walking through history across the cobblestone of Pompeii, the architecture of Barcelona and Florence and walking among the ruins of Old Zadar and Rome.  Oh and the gelato and wine....  There is no favorite. With a trip there can't be. So for fun here are my calculations of our trip from May 9th - May 20th.  I have excluded our primary travel days to and from. 5 Countries in 7 days plus 4 fringe days in Barcelona, Florence and Rome Wrap Up Wine - 20 glasses Specialty Cocktails - 8 Gelato...

Rome, the Final Stop

Image
We took the train from Florence to Rome for the last 2 days of our 2 week journey.  I was getting weary, but grabbed my list of things to see in Rome and started crossing them off my list almost immediately after dropping our bags at the gorgeous Colonna Palace. Our first stop was the Trevi Fountain and it was swarming with people, uncomfortably so.  We took a few photos, looked at the sculpture of it and moved on.  We thought maybe it would be less crowded early in the morning, but our friends went at 6 a.m. and it still had crowds of people around it. Trevi Fountain Our next stop was the Spanish Steps that we climbed.  Again more crowds and the ring of the whistles being blown for people sitting on the stairs which is not allowed. Views from the top of the Spanish Steps Next was the Pantheon.  We did not go inside, but walked around the structure.  I was taken back to the similarities between the Pantheon and the Lincoln Memorial.  On our last ...
