Legend-ary Travel - Pure Michigan

Image
Cars and other billboards were edited from this photo. - September 19th, 2025 My annual birthday trip for August was cancelled due to some time sensitive family needs. We were able to reschedule the trip to Michigan to the middle of September. We had to adjust our expectations a bit and opted to bring the bikes instead of the kayaks. Also the weather would be cooler, but I am not certain that was such a bad thing. Our length of stay also needed to be adjusted slightly by reducing the trip by a day due to our September calendar. This was not a big sacrifice. I surprised myself when we crossed the Welcome to Michigan sign when I realized that this was the first time I had been to Michigan. This is so funny since it is only a few hours from our home in Ohio. Our drive pulling our 25 and a half foot travel trailer, though littered with construction, was uneventful. Well it wasn’t all uneventful. We stopped at a rest area near the Ohio line and I had my first pumpkin spice. Please remember ...

An August Poem

Image
Allegheny River, Pennsylvania 7/27/24  What Do I Need GRACE when I say the wrong words or they come out harsh. QUIET so that my head can stop pounding until my thoughts can be sorted through. NO JUDGEMENT  as I grapple with grief my way, not your way. PRAYER so that my soul can be hugged as my physical body feels bruised and battered and painful to the touch. PATEINCE as I create opportunities to create order and boundaries to gain assemblance of control. UNDERSTANDING that I am emotionally and physically exhausted at a level the sleep can not replenish. COMPASSION it is all too much so I am doing ALL I can to handle and do what I can. ACCEPTANCE I can not do it all, but let me decide what I can do.   FORGIVENESS I may not say or do the right things for you to know that I love you and I know you are grieving too.

The Epcot Challenge

Image
Our Epcot day was the most challenging when we visited Disney World in July.  We went during the end of magic hours entry for resort guests.  We loved the Remi ride in France and then visited the various lands.  Believe it or not, I have never done that before.  I loved the Canada and China shows.  It helped that they were in air conditioning.  We enjoyed Chai latte's in Italy.  Mistake #1 we didn't get breakfast because we weren't hungry, but that was a costly mistake. After walking all of the countries. I was surprised by the lack of rides and the amount of walking.  Not eating breakfast was catching up to us quick, but the food options seemed incredibly limited.  We enjoyed fish and chips in the UK, but were craving a location with air conditioning. We met up with my son's family to do a rider switch for Guardians of the Galaxy while my grandson took a nap.  Mistake #2.  We wished that we would have had them wait in that l...

A Magical Surprise

Image
My grandson was celebrating his 3rd birthday in July.  It had been an emotional and challenging health year for the little guy.  My son and his wife changed their vacation plans to celebrate his milestone birthday in family style with a trip to Disney World.  After inviting my youngest daughter along, things were said and plans were made and it became the cancelled graduation celebration we had hoped.  We had talked bout finally visiting Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios after her graduation, but the expense was too much.  We had settled on a trip to Maine, but that too was cancelled when I spent the money I was saving for the trip on her childhood horse, Troubadour.  We both agreed it was a much better use of the money.  When the opportunity arose to go to Disney adjacent to my son's family trip, I was still hesitant.  It was a lot of money that I had not planned for a trip. My daughter and I agreed to split the cost and it was much more ...
