Outside the Zone

My husband and I have a full spring and summer of traveling plans. We are anxiously awaiting April , when we will get back into our travel trailer back into nature. We are what many people call "Weekend Warriors" in the camping circles, traveling on the road, not full time, but several times a month. When we were researching and deciding whether we were going to get a trailer, we watched many YouTube videos to see what has changed since our pop up days of 15 years ago. We came across a younger couple who RV fulltime, the Hanks. They were fun, informative and their personalities reminded us of our children and our younger selves. Together, we began watching 3 - 4 years of their digital content several nights a week. Bruce was so smitten that he subscribed to their weekly newsletter. It was then that we discovered that they held rallies. What's a rally? I asked the same question. A Rally is an organized event where RVers come together, at a designated time and place,...

Loosening My Grip

Image
This week has been a busy one. It as if when the sun comes out and the temperatures rise, the hours in the day get shorter. I almost have to look back at my calendar to see what kept me so busy. I did continue my medicine cabinet purge and discovered my AVEDA Smooth Infusion nourishing styling creme. I bought it many years ago and loved it! I would towel dry my hair and place only a dime size or less into my hands and run my fingers through my hair. It was pricey, especially for this frugal girl, but it lasted me several years. One of the reasons for it's longevity, is because it got pushed to the back of my medicine cabinet and I forget about it for long spans of time. Another reason it was never ending was because I discovered the formula changed when I went to purchase a new bottle. I asked my stylist to use the new product after a haircut and I hated it. It felt heavy and sticky, not like the previous light conditioner I loved. So what did I do? I hoarded my bo...

Overwhelmed and Overflowing

A few years ago my daughters told me about a company IPSY , a beauty subscription service that delivers a set of personalized beauty products straight to your door. I would get 5 health and beauty samples a month based on my preferences. I was never knowledgeable about make-up. This was a great price for me to try new products and find what I liked. I loved the service, but then it became too much. My drawers and medicine cabinet were over flowing with sample products. 5 products a month for 12 months is 60 products a year. I did it for 2 years which was 120 small items and some full size products. I used and liked the majority of the products, but I am more of a naturalist and wear limited make up and generally wear it when I go out for dinner or an event or work. I gave some away. Then I had a great thought at first, I would pack one of each item in my "grab and go travel bag". It worked well, but I wasn't going anywhere consistently so the products remained and...

Purposeful Puppy Passion

Image
Taking advantage of a little quiet time to make a post. There hasn't been much quiet time at the house since we welcomed 3 - 13 week old heeler puppies through Rescue Village's Foster Program the last Saturday in January. (The photo above is them getting ready for nap time. Getting a photo of 3 uncontained puppies is no joke.) My passion and love of dogs has been evident my entire life. I briefly fostered with my youngest daughter while I was still working and she was a senior in high school. Once she left for college, I didn't feel that I had the time to devote to fostering the way I wanted to do it. Flash forward 6 years, I am no longer working and am home 95% of each week. So I re-enrolled in the foster program, took the online training and am currently fostering these energetic pups for a few weeks before they will be available for adoption at Rescue Village . Just like babies, I sleep when they sleep and I sleep hard! I am so happy to have this purposef...
