January Aspirations Realized

Image
So hard to believe that January is coming to an end. True, I was sick for the first 10 days of it, but I have kept busy for the later half of the month. In my effort to focus on my word of 2024 - " Aspire" I have been very busy. In January, I ASPIRED TO.... Better health by purposely being active 4 days a week.  I have been healthy enough to begin using my video Ring Fit Adventure again. With some slight adaptations, I am almost to the same level where I left off over 2 years ago. I also purchased hand weight to begin to build some protective muscles in my arms. Wow It has been a journey. Balance and not over doing is key, but I think I have found a rhythm. And I am ok to say "Not today". Create opportunities to connect and spend time with family and friends.  I am happy to say my book chat began meeting again. There are only 3 of us, but we had a great discussion about our January read "Maybe Next Time" by Cesa Major. Improve my ...

My Travel List 2024

Image
What am I doing in my early retirement? Traveling.  Last fall my husband and I bought a 2021 Forest River SURVEYOR LEGEND . With purchasing it in September, we were limited on our adventures with winter around the corner. Our goal is to take it out at least one weekend a month. We already have reservations for April, May and June to various Ohio State Parks. We enjoy following a couple other people who fill the RV life full time on YouTube. They have been informative and fun for my husband and I to watch together in the evenings. One of our favorite couples are HappilyEver Hanks . We have just learned that they will be hosting a rally in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee the beginning of June. We are hoping to be able to attend. It would be our longest trailer tow of the year - 8 1/2 hours away. But with our new truck to haul Sweet Sue, our trailer. Yes, we named her. We believe we are up for the challenge. My travels will actually begin in March this year. My youngest daughte...

My Word for 2024

Image
Happy 2024! I rang out 2023 with illness and rung in 2024 with illness, but here I am 13 days into the new year and have my wits about me again. I have contemplated my word of the year for many weeks and have become lost in the process. Maybe it is because I lost touch with my 2023 word "Grateful" for the latter part of 2023. After much thought and many word trees, I believe I have found the word that will guide my path in 2024.  "ASPIRE" to direct one's hopes or ambitions towards achieving something. I have always been a goal setter, but even more during the past 2 years I have realized how even small goals can help me to find purpose and motivate to move forward. Now that my health has leveled out and I have accepted my "new normal" as the doctor states. I have a firm starting line to move forward. I will aspire to reach my goals both small and large through out 2024. I WILL ASPIRE TO.... Better health by purposely being active 4...

My 2023 Reflection

Image
When I tried to reflect on this past year, as I do at the end of the year, I realized I did not have my goals or word of the year in my memory banks. This was surprising to me as I generally reflect and lean into them through out the year. I could be disappointed in myself with this discovery or I could just throw my hands up and take a deep breath. I decided to do the latter. Continuing the tradition that began last year, I will recognize my top 10 blessings (in random order) and end 2022 on a blessing. (Even though I am actually writing this a few days into the new year of 2024.) I traveled to Alaska with my husband and daughter. I was healthy enough to challenge myself with some physical activity. We bought a travel trailer and added more travel to our lives. We started our own business. I watched my nieces get married. I tried skydiving (in a simulator). I bought a telescope and often looked at the moon and stars. I laughed with my ki...
