Maintaining into 2025

Great Smoky Mountains - June 2024

My word of the Year is Maintain.

I often look back at past years' goal to help assemble my current year's goals.  I have always want to be certain to include growth in my goal.  I wanted to go deeper and farther than previous years, but this year I have decided not to grab the measuring stick. My goals may look similar to years past, but that is ok.

BODY
1. I will continue stay active through YMCA classes, hiking, biking and kayaking.  I feel better when I am moving, but I will forgive myself when I choose to rest.
2. I will continue to do strength training whether through the YMCA or on my own.
3. I will continue to try to block the noise that comes from society and my own head that I am overweight and maintain a weight where I feel good and healthy.

MIND
1. I will continue to find quiet time to help me sort my thoughts.
2.  I will continue to forgive my mind when it doesn't work the way I want it to, but continue to exercise it with creative activity,  puzzles and memory challenges.
3. I will continue to expand my knowledge and my world through books, articles and documentaries.

SPIRIT
1. I will continue to take time to appreciate and connect to God through nature and star gazing.
2. I will continue to remind myself that God maybe in people, but He is not people and continue to rebuild and strengthen my faith.
3.  I will continue to acknowledge who I am and remind myself that God has created me into who I am.  I will not feel obligated to change who I am to create myself into the image others want me to be.

ACTION
1.  I will continue to travel see "new to me" wonders of this world.
        a. New Orleans
        b. Cozumel, Yucatan, George Town, Mexico
        c. London, England
        d. New River Gorge, West Virginia
        e. Red River Gorge, Kentucky
        f. Kelley's Island, Ohio
2.  I will continue to listen to a variety of books with the goal of completing 45 in 2025.
(I will post a list of possible books in a later blog)
3.  I will continue to give of my treasures and time through out the year.
        a. I will make a quarterly monetary donation to a cause or charity close to me heart.
        b. I will continue to give my time to my friends and family.
                - I will connect with my sisters weekly.
                - I will suggest a monthly connection with my children.
                - I will spend a full away from the house non-holiday day with each of my adult children.
                - I will invite friends into my home quarterly.

Reflection: These goals may not stretch me to new heights, but they will help to focus my energy to maintain my body, mind and spirit that has made me strong.  The goal is to maintain where I am. I can always grow and move forward, but I do not wish to backslide.
