We were blessed with great weather at the beginning of my daughter, Christina, and I's spring break trip to Sedona, Arizona. The weather turned mid week which is probably good in hindsight. We had seen and done a lot in the first 5 days and we were in need of some respite. So we spent our 6th day wondering among the raindrops in Sedona. We walked around Tlaquepaque Shopping Center. We stopped into gem store, art shops and even a liquor and olive oil tasting store. Shopping doesn't hold much interest for me but I found the wandering in and out of the stone front shops fun. I purchased a beautiful set of stud earrings and a bracelet at the gem store. I also came home with some Rose Petal liquor to heighten the taste of my white wine and it smells fabulous!
After our walk about the shopping area we headed into Sedona to the 1912 winery. We were wanting to do a wine tasting, but even more so we wanted to answer a questions that had had us perplexed for our entire trip. Exactly where is Snoopy Rock? I knew that this winery boasted a view of Snoopy Rock so we headed in. Yes, we tasted wine, but we finally discovered not only Snoopy Rock, but also Lucy. The funniest part was that even the waitress had questioned for months which was Snoopy Rock. It seems like an easy tell in the picture, but when you pan out to the landscape, it is like finding Waldo at a circus.
We stopped in to the Sedona Candle Factory, which is always a favorite stop. We returned the next day for my daughter to make a purchase for her apartment.

On our final day, the weather was cold and snowy and we decided to hunker down in the condo and only ventured out to pick up the candle and enjoy a special dinner at
Creekside Bistro. I was taken back by the location, not expecting a upper end restaurant to appear as a hole in the wall, but again my taste buds were highly satisfied. One thing that never disappoints in Sedona is the food. Well except one local pizza we purchased in Oak Creek Village on our return from Grand Canyon. ]It was barely edible, we each ate a piece and threw it out. We were happy to get the appetizer platter to fill us up. The pizza situation was rectified when we ordered a pizza from
Pisa Lisa and it was perfection! I digress. We toasted our last night with our Prickly Pear Margarita.
This trip had been more than either of us had ever expected. My daughter and I discussed making this "Girl's Trip" to the National Parks a tradition.
I do have to give a HUGE shout out to my daughter, who was seemingly very patient with my constant coughing. I was getting over a cold I caught just prior to our trip and my cough was intense. I tried to joke that I left my lung on Rt 17 because I had a coughing attack while I was driving. (FYI it has been a month since our trip - my cough remains not in consistency, but in intensity - Gotta love auto immune disorders - everything takes 3 times as long to get over) Christina made a wonderful travel partner assisting in navigation, but not being a back seat driver. I loved sharing this time with her and growing together with our love of conservation and nature.
When given the opportunity, grab on to these moments. They can be fleeting at life changes can take you and the ones you love in different directions. The time may never be perfect. The funds may never be perfect. Seize the day!
